FTP Accounts
Learn more about what FTP is, what it can do and what is the main advantage of having multiple FTP Accounts.
FTP (short for File Transfer Protocol), is among the most widely used means of exchanging files between a computer and a server. With an FTP client such as FileZilla, you can make a connection to your hosting account and drag & drop files or whole folders in either direction and the software itself will take care of all the rest. There’re a number of pros of using File Transfer Protocol, among them the possibility to restart an upload/download when there’s a problem with the FTP connection and the possibility to set up different FTP accounts. Thanks to the latter option, you can create FTP users that can connect only to specific folders in your web hosting account, but no other folders, emails or other information, which makes it the best option especially when you have to grant a web designer access, for example. You can also use an FTP account with popular web design applications like Dreamweaver or FrontPage and upload the sites that you’ve created directly from them, without the need to use 3rd-party software.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting
You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you need with each of the
cloud hosting offered by us, since we’ve decided not to limit this service. In this way, you can maintain multiple websites at the same time or provide other individuals with access to different directories. Once a particular task has been done and you wouldn’t like that person to be able to access your website files any longer, you can update the password associated with the specific FTP account or you can just delete the account with a couple of clicks and stop worrying about someone accessing it again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all web hosting plans, will allow you to check the full list of the existing FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes only one single click of the mouse to manage various options for any of them – to edit the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in VPS Hosting
None of the
Linux VPS hosting packages that we offer has a cap on the number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any moment, so you can set up an FTP account for each website hosted on the VPS server, regardless of whether it is under a domain or sub-domain. Also, it does not matter which hosting Control Panel you will choose when you register – Hepsia, cPanel or DirectAdmin, as an FTP server will be set up on the virtual machine during the installation of any of them. In case you want different users to access the very same folder with their own set of log-in details, for example, it’ll take a couple of mouse clicks to create an FTP account for each of them. Deleting an existing account or modifying the folder that it can connect to is just as easy and you won’t have to deal with any predicaments, even if you don’t have any previous experience in such matters.
